Today, we’ll discuss 5 nostalgic snacks that have made a comeback. They always remind us that sometimes, the past is still worth revisiting.

1. Donettes

Donettes

Today, various types of donuts are available in our favorite fast-food chains, bakeries, or grocery stores. You can find filled, frosted, glazed, and even oversized donuts of various flavors and textures. But let’s admit it: nothing can compare to the simple joy of Donettes. These small, mini doughnuts were perfect just as they were, without any fancy toppings or gourmet fillings. And this simplicity easily takes us back to childhood road trips, lunchboxes, or those comfortable mornings with our family members.

Believe it or not, Hostess’ Donettes are still available on shelves, and snacking on them leads to almost similar sensations as winning a slot game on online platforms such as KatsuBet casino, where digital jackpots feed our cravings in a similar way as these mini-doughnut snacks.

2. Necco Wafers

Necco Wafers

Wafers, in general, might not seem like the most exciting candy. That’s because they’re flat and don’t melt in your mouth like chocolate does. But there are some types of wafers that certainly hold special places in our hearts. Necco Wafers is one of those. This sweet snack always stood out with its colorful appearance during our childhood.

New England Confectionery Company’s ‘Necco’ first produced these wafers in 1847. The snack was available until 2018, when the company suffered from bankruptcy. Luckily, in 2020, Spangler Candy Company saved the snack and brought it back on shelves.

3. Astro Pops

Astro Pops

Retro candy from the 1960s has especially strong nostalgia power with its bright colors, specific shapes, and lively packages. Astro Pops is a type of candy that captures all these criteria. This candy was first launched in 1963 when the world was constantly talking about astronauts, rockets, and the Space Race. Not surprisingly, Astro Pops were shaped like rocket ships.

Astro Pops stayed popular for decades, and finally, they disappeared from the market in the early 2000s. But it turns out fans weren’t ready to let go, and as a result, the brand made a comeback in 2010. Thus, the new generation still has a chance to taste this space-spirited candy from the ‘60s.

4. Lunchables

Lunchables

These days, we can easily find various types of pre-made quick lunch meals that consist of various ingredients. But back in the ’90s and early 2000s, it was a big step in the food industry to produce a pre-packaged lunch kit. Lunchables was exactly that — a snack that made people’s lives easier.

This childhood snack was available on shelves for 15 years. In 2024, the company finally realized how much people craved returning to the feelings of old school days and decided to bring Lunchables back. But maybe it was too late because in the years of absence, people satisfied their childhood memories thanks to Lunchly — a new brand that filled the gap in the market with similar lunch kits to Lunchables.

5. French Toast Crunch

French Toast Crunch

Finally, who doesn’t think of General Mills when it comes to iconic cereals? At least, kids from the 1990s do because we all remember how satisfying it was to open a box of French Toast Crunch and taste those tiny pieces. Yes, it was far from being healthy, but our parents still used to allow us to taste this sweet dessert for breakfast.

Modern cereal aisles are full of actually healthy, high-protein items that contain low sugar and are packed with fiber. But if you’ve ever tasted French Toast Crunch, it’s hard to forget that warm texture and satisfying crunch.

The brand decided to discontinue this snack in 2006. But luckily, fan requests finally worked in 2014, and General Mills brought it back. And if you didn’t know about this amazing fact, yes — it still tastes just as magical as decades ago.

Bottom Line

Are you feeling nostalgic enough? If you were born in the ‘80s, ‘90s, or even early 2000s, chances are you remember at least one of these snacks as a sweet memory from your childhood. It seems like candy brands understand how much these memories meant to us, and that’s why they revived these classics. And if you get a chance to taste them again, hopefully, you’ll realize how much joy the simplest snacks can bring.
